Dr. Reimond Kassis is able to provide you with dental implants right here in Kilmore. If you have a missing tooth or teeth, dental implants can be a great way to regain the confidence and function that may have been lost.
A dental implant is a replacement tooth root that is made of titanium. It is inserted into the bone that would usually support a tooth root and the bone is able to attach to the titanium implant via a process called osseointegration. From there false teeth can be securely fixed to the implant. Implants are often more conservative than traditional bridgework. This is because implants do not rely on neighbouring teeth for support. They are stand-alone structures which rely solely on the bone for support. This means that your remaining teeth are doing less work and are more likely to last longer.
If you’re considering filling some gaps in your mouth we can organise a time for Dr. Reimond to have a chat with you, demystify the process and discuss your suitability for dental implants.
Digitally guided implant placement
In an exciting technological advancement, our implant dentist, Dr Reimond Kassis, uses digital cone beam CT technology to plan exactly where your dental implant is going to be placed. The implant shape is superimposed in 3 dimensions into the skeletal scan of your jaw bone. This digital data is used to 3D print a surgical guide which is then used during your implant placement procedure to precisely guide the implant into its correct position based on your anatomical jaw structures.
We also offer Implant Retained Overdentures
Implant retained overdentures are the premium package when it comes to removable prosthetic dentures. These will offer the wearer the peace of mind knowing they have a secure denture that won’t move when eating or talking. People that have found conventional dentures to be problematic due to gagging, looseness or sore irritated mouths often find these issues to be rectified with implant retained dentures. Implants can also reduce further bone loss! One of the most beneficial aspects of implant retained dentures is you can remove them to properly clean around the implant and under the denture making it much easier to maintain a healthy mouth.
I’m interested in discussing implant retained over-dentures, what happens now?
KDSC’s implant expert Dr Reimond Kassis is our go to for all things implants! A consultation with Dr Kassis is vital in assessing whether implants are right for you and if the underlying bone in the jaw is suitable to support implants. Once you have been assessed and given the green light, a treatment plan will be tailored for your specific needs.
After the implants are placed there is a period of a few months where they sit under the gums to allow a process called osseo-intergration to occur. During this process the bone will fuse to the implant, setting it in place giving us a strong foundation to attach the denture to. Once this process is complete abutments are attached to the implants which protrude above the gum line and allow the denture to be clipped into place. After Dr Kassis has completed this process, our Dental Prosthetist Tim will take over. You will have several appointments to determine your bite, see a wax trial denture to make sure we’re happy with the appearance and make any adjustments as necessary before finishing the denture.
Implant treatment can be a lengthy process, however the final outcome has amazing benefits. These can include a stronger bite, reduced soreness in the gums and a more confident smile with the knowledge your dentures are more secure.
After treatment maintenance to your implant retained over denture.
Inside the housing of the denture that the implant clips into, is a small Locator cap that will wear down in time causing them to loosen. These caps can easily be replaced by Tim and come in different hardness’s if you need a tighter grip. The housing itself can also wear however this can take many years to occur and can be replaced in a day. Relines can also be done if the gums shrink away from the base after years pass. But fear not! Maintaining them is minor in contrast to the incredible benefits of your implant retained overdentures.
